Hugh Jackman Explains His Futuristic Robot Boxing Movie Real Steel In This New Featurette
After seeing the unintentionally hilarious first trailer for Real Steel this June, we laughed until we cried cyborg boxer-sized tears inside Movieline HQ. After all, it used every clich in the book to advertise an earnest drama about a washed-up boxer (Hugh Jackman) who pours all of his lost fighting ambitions into a robot that he coaches Rocky-style towards a futuristic championship. Lucky for us, DreamWorks has released a featurette in which Jackman and director Shawn Levy more effectively pitch their dystopian robo redemption movie. Take a look. Sugar Ray Leonard’s participation in the animatronic fight sequences gives Real Steel some legitimacy, right? Even if Hugh Jackman, robot controller in hand, just ends up looking like some video game-crazed psychopath freaking out after his in-ring surrogate loses a round. Are you sold after seeing this featurette? Half-sold? Quarter-sold? And more importantly, do you think DreamWorks jumped the gun on possibly enlisting a screenwriter for the sequel? Real Steel, which also stars Evangeline Lilly and Dakota Goyo, is due in theaters October 7. [SlashFilm]

Bryan Cranston Enlists for 'World War Z'
Bryan Cranston, whose film career has gone ballistic since taking on the role of Walter White in AMC's 'Breaking Bad,' is in talks to join 'World War Z,' a post-apocalyptic thriller starring Brad Pitt. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cranston's part is small but flashy, which we don't doubt since the actor has such a full schedule: He's just finished 'Drive,' 'Contagion,' 'Leave,' 'Red Tails' and 'John Carter' and is working on 'Rock of Ages,' 'Total Recall' and 'Argo.' Whew! 'World War Z' is an adaptation of Max Brooks' 2006 novel, 'World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War,' in which a UN representative conducts first-person interviews with survivors of the great zombie war that almost wiped out humankind. Marc Forster is directing the film for Paramount. Forster is quite an eclectic director, and it will be interesting to see what he does with the film. He made a big splash with 2001's 'Monster Ball,' gave Will Ferrell one of his best roles in 'Stranger Than Fiction,' tackled a tough subject in the adaptation of Khaled Hosseini's 'The Kite Runner' and helmed the James Bond 'Quantum of Solace.' His latest, 'Machine Gun Preacher,' about a former drug-dealing biker tough guy who found God and became a crusader for hundreds of Sudanese children, will see a limited release in late September. 'World War Z' will be released in 2012.

Disney's 'Snow White' Reboot Will Focus on the Seven Dwarfs
Wait, there's a third Snow White film in the works? Yes, in addition to the versions starring Kristen Stewart and Lily Collins, Disney has been quietly prepping their own Snow White reboot, which will focus on the seven dwarfs. (Between these and 'The Hobbit,' we'll soon be up to our armpits in dwarves!) The live-action movie, formerly known as 'Snow White and the Seven,' will now be called 'The Order of the Seven,' and the dwarfs are no longer lovable gem miners, but deadly warriors, who come to the aid of a woman who's being pursued by "an ancient evil." Commercial director and visual effects expert Michael Gracey, whose credits include work on 'Happy Feet,' has just been tapped to direct. Here's the synopsis, via The Hollywood Reporter: The seven are a 19th century-set disparate band of international warriors belonging to a centuries-old order who have lost their way. Their meeting with an Englishwoman being chased by an ancient evil is the catalyst for their redemption. While the project is set in China, the warriors will be from locales near (the U.S.) and far (Russia), and each warrior will have a unique fighting style. Filming is expected to begin next year, meaning this will definitely will be the last of the Snow White films to hit theaters. Do you like this idea or are you tired of Snow White "re-imaginings" already? [via /film]

TCA: New CBS Measurement System Casts Demos In Different Light
Amazing: In a new audience-demographic measuring system introduced during todays TCA by CBS chief research officer David Poltrack, the Eye Network seems to be at the top of the heap in every new demographic group. The idea, according to Poltrack, is to move away from the simple but perhaps outdated demographic analysis that divides TV watchers by age and sex. Instead, Poltrack offered six demand profit pool personas that might serve as valuable targets for marketers. Gone are the days, he said, that the status of TV shows should be measured by how well they do in the desirable but shrinking demographic of 18-49 (although he reminded listeners that todays CBS is on top in that demographic, too). The list: TV Companions (people who use TV for companionship and always have it on in the background mainly stay-at-home women); Sports Enthusiasts (no definition necessary); Streamers (younger viewers who watch content across multiple screens); TV Moderators (those who try not to watch too much TV); Media Trendsetters (users of both TV and new technology who tend to talk, not tweet, about TV shows to their friends); and Program Passionates, who are dedicated to their own appointment-television favorites. Poltrack noted that over at NBC, the same type of exploration is going on with that networks Alpha Boomers research, seeking to better understand the value of the senior demographic. Meanwhile, he said CBS is concentrating on expanding its reach with Program Passionates and Media Trendsetters. But it all comes down to this: A big show is a big show, Poltrack said. No matter what category you fall into, says Poltrack, you are still most likely to be watching American Idol, NCIS or Dancing With the Stars (this excludes all-sports viewers be quiet, theyre watching the game).
Spider
Jill is annoyed with Jack, ignoring his attempts to get her to smile as she drives a city road. She stops for petrol, and while she's filling the tank, he goes into the station's mini-mart and buys a bouquet, chocolates, and a few odds and ends. While she's paying, he sits in the passenger seat, strewing the flowers and things. She pushes away the flowers, starts the car, and resumes driving, staring straight ahead. He peels the paper off a chocolate and sets it on the dash near her hand. She takes it. He sets out another; soon she softens, then, she folds down the visor. Has Jack made things right again? And the tuffet?

Harry Shum Junior. Hopes to Sing in 'Glee' Season 3
NEW You are able to (AP) Harry Shum Junior.'s character on "Glee" might be a person in the glee club but that does not mean he's become the opportunity to sing. There is a running joke on the program that his character, Mike Chang, is tone-hard of hearing and the dancing ability makes him valuable towards the New Directions show choir. In tangible existence, Shum states he's been taking vocal training and hopes to obtain a shot at singing on the program.InchI am not the very best singer but I am certainly not the worst. I am somewhere between but I'll allow the audience gauge how good that's and hopefully the show enables me to sing a genuine song," states Shum. The smoothness of Mike Chang has been around since season one with very little dialogue.Shum describes him as beginning off like a background character who would dance making facial expressions. He'd be at liberty when the camera cut to him periodically for any reaction shot. He's gradually become more screen some time and was lately upgraded from recurring to some regular cast member. For his "Glee" co-stars, Shum states he isn't confident that anybody will leave the series in the finish from the third season.
